interesting sleep observation

As you may recall, I have been having issues with Jacobs sleep. (wakes early 4am, cries for 30 minutes til falls back asleep, anyhow,). Saturday night, Dh and I woke up to Jacob sobbing loudly and walking down the hall. Poor kid fell out of his crib AND the rail was still up. There was no way he was going to sleep in his room, so I just brought him to our bed. Anyhow, he falls asleep and is the most restless sleeper ever. He literally stands up in his sleep and falls where ever. He also did some talking in his sleep (mama...roar.) There were different points in the night where he was basically laying across me hanging off the bed. He really did not sleep still the whole night. And the standing up and falling over thing is scary. He is sound asleep when he does this. SO, I guess all this early waking is due to him flipping and flopping around in his crib. I am truly amazed at how restless he is! And my only guess as to why he fell out of his crib is probably b/c he stood up and just leaned over.
Anyhow, I was really surprised by all this.
Hope you guys are well

Maybe it's time for a new bed? When my son was having sleep issues, we bought a twin mattress and put it right on the floor. That way when he woke, i would lay next to him until he went back to sleep--theory being reinforcing him sleeping in his bed. It worked out great and he loved it.

My 4yo Ryan does the same - I can almost set an alarm clock to the time that he wakes.

It's not so bad now that he's out of his crib, but now he's added sleep-walking to his night-time skills.

Seriously considering melatonin. 10yo Josh on the other hand (Aspie) sleeps like a rock from the second his head hits the pillow. He's never had sleep issues. Good thing since they share a room!
