I feel like everyday I am hit with obstacles I didn't anticipate or see going wrong as they are happening and I wonder what I should be doing, if anything to avoid it, or make it better. And is making it better a bad thing, when certainly the world won't always make everything better? It's exhausting. So here is where I will list some of my questions about today.

My son Brady is almost 5. Still in pre-school, and from what I gather (still seeking a firm diagnosis) has Asperger's.

While driving to school, I knew he would want a snack. I should have asked what he wanted. I just grabbed a ziploc of teddy grahams. Atleast we were only a block away when I handed it to him and he said he wanted string cheese and was crying because that was "the only thing he wanted to eat, and was so starving". Due to his "rigid thinking" I knew what I had to do. Go home and get some string cheese.

Thanks. Yes, I think the anxiety is probably a big part of it. I am going to try to figure out a way to talk to him about it that is at his level. May be a little challenging but we could probably start building on the idea. Are there any parenting books you recommend? The only book I have is "Top 275 questions" for parents with AS children.

Oh my goodness I related to all of that so much. Thank you. I have so many questions I am probably going to annoy all of you. I'm just glad to have found this place. It's all so familiar. So refreshing.
