Is there a relief emoticon?

How are all your kids now that Christmas is over? How did they do today after all the expectation was finally done?

Well waiting for Christmas was absolutely horrible right up to last night, then today, My nice boy was BACK! Once that christmas anticipation was done he did great. I think it helped that a) he got NO legos, b) he got NO video games, c) he got an iPod (music is very theraputic), d) I forgot his meds (starting to wonder if this one is having an adverse effect too and e) laid back day with no inlaws! Just my mom.

I thought not getting legos or a video game would be a problem but it wasn't. Dave got a video game Mike was playing with him. There were some minor problems around that but not near what they are when it is his game. He got magnetics instead of legos to build with. did you know you can make really cool spinny things out of magnetics? I didn't until today. Reminds me of a line by Jerry Newport. God must be autistic, that is why the planets spin!

Last night at inlaws....borderline evil. We managed and it went OK ish but only because my expectations have dropped into the gutter. Heck we didn't have to leave and no one got injured so it was a success!

How about you all? Are things getting back to normal? Are you relieved?

OH shush about normal Renee! LOL

My guys still have TWO more houses to go to next weekend. And so far Josh hasn't gotten any Transformers so he's pretty ummmmm UGLY. (Take that back - he got a little one from daycare, but not the big one on his list).

Ry's doing ok - though I'm going to seriously brain my ex-BIL. Last year he got Ryan a "Road Rippers" truck that plays "We Will Rock You". This year he added one that plays "Hot Hot Hot" to the fleet. Now - we live in a 900 sf house, and he insists on playing with them together.

I'm glad your boy is back. I find the med thing interesting, too. I guess is it hard to tell.

I'm glad the day went well. Pity about the IL's but well; I think we are bothe resigned to the fact that they will Just Never Get It.

Read about the amazing bike story. Was gonna reply about that one seperately! Good for Peter and Siobhan! Can they come teach Dave? We recently noticed he runs kind of sideways. Must be a sensory thing but as such you can imagine how the bike riding goes as well.

Kill the BIL. That is all you can do at that point. We had one get Dave this talking nerf target that is SOOOO annoying. Evil I tell you!

Sorry about the 2 more houses. Ya know I was feeling a bit down once upon a time that we really don't do much with friends or other families on the holidays. Really not much interaction with other families at all other than the obligatory in-law things. But I really think it is better this way.

We were supposed to carol and bring cookies to Mike's teacher and she was even going to invite us in for a bit (couple days before christmas) but there was a change in plans and it didn't work out. I was really glad. I got so nervous about a few minutes at someones house that is supposed to be pleasant. No WONDER I don't go anywhere. It is such torture to even consider new houses with the family that we have stopped going and have stopped being invited.

BUT I still don't envy you with 2 more houses!

Oh - *I* personally don't have 2 more houses to go to - ex's new wife's family parties are next weekend - THEY are taking the boys.

And if they're anywhere near as hyper and stimmy as they were here.....I'd better pack the duct tape because that's the only way Josh will survive the 3 hour drive home.

Ex is of the "you're too easy on him and there's nothing wrong" camp.

Luckily my family is aware of my son's condition because otherwise they would ahve had their feelings hurt as my son was so non-expressive during the opening of presents. To top that off, when he would begin opening a present, someone would ask what it was and he would respond "Patience, you need patience!" He is something else.

Now that the holidays are over I am starting to feel the pressure of the school meeting we will probably have in mid January. Since my son has been out of school I have sorta been on haitus from thinking about the upcoming battle with school. Today is the first day in about a week or so that I have been reading and reviewing Asperger;s and IEP related info. I was reviewing Wrights law stuff today at work and tonight I am reading some more of some of my extensive library of books. I can't remember the last time I read for enjoyment.

My son did really well. Fortunately my son does not care if his regular schedule is messed up. That is one thing I have never had to worry about with him. Sat. night however, we went to my MIL's sisters house. One of the kids knocked over his drink and DS got really upset. He started to cry and we had to console him and let him know it was ok.

Now we are dealing with the hyperness. He has all these new things to play with and he is going nuts. Not forgetting that there are tons of sweets in the house. He was sitting here repeating everything I said on the phone a few hours ago. I was on the phone with my mom and she heard how hyper he was. She knew that I had a very long hard day at work and she was off this week , so she came and got him. He is going to stay with her till Friday morning. Maybe I can get some cleaning done hehe.
