Hi all,
I guess I should have had hopes that the day would have gone better, Nick woke up and by 9:15 am, he was grumbling I'm bored.... We had plans to go to this lake we belong to. They have a nice swim lake, putt putt, playground, etc. I went out and bought hair clippers this morning and gave him his first done-by-Mom buzz cut as he no longer wants to go to have it done. He actually sat pretty good! A great $50 investment, these things are neat, made by Wahl I think, they are called Peanut and are pretty quiet and easy to use. He looks great. Anyways, 20 minutes before we leave, he has a major meltdown because he couldnt take his metal grader with us to the beach. They allow plastic beach toys, not metal. He simmered and completely boiled over for 45 minutes. Of course I was the target, kicking, punching, spitting (I HATE that), name calling, slapping). Not sure why he picks me, but I took as little as possible without provoking him more. Of course DH was completely stressed and going on about how Nick was ruining the day and "every time" we plan something fun, it gets ruined, DRAMA. So here's me, trying to keep it all together again, desperately searching for a xanax..lol. Finally when he seemed to be simmering down a bit, I brought our dog Heidi in and told her to "find Nick" which she did, God love her, and he snapped out of it. I dont bring her in until he seems to reach a point as she is a bit fearful of him, but she is learning. He finally calmed down and actually helped me clean his room which he had completely trashed and we went to the lake and had alot of fun. Now we are home and he refuses to take a shower. So he is dirty from the playground, completely covered in sunscreen, thank goodness the lake is manmade, so no chlorine, but still....I just want to scream that he wont take a shower or bath. If I could glop soap on his head and hose him down outside I would.
So how was your day!! Oh, drinks are on me, I discovered a new shot while out a couple of weekends ago, called a Sicilian Kiss, I believe Southern Comfort and Amaretto..gotta try it :)

Something is in the air I think. Haley is going through a quiet phase where she just sits and won't speak. When she wants something she grunts or points. When we don't know what it is she is trying to tell us, she just points angrily and stomps her foot. I thought we were over this one but it has reared its ugly head again. When she does decide to speak, she is rude and snotty. She is going through the boredom thing too so maybe that is all that's causing it.
Good luck on the shower. I may be dealing with the same problem tonight. LOL Those shots sound yummy!

Really, it sounds like what has been going on around here. My ds is 5 years old too and we have the same type of days. The first two weeks out of school were he!! and this past week was a little better. He gets angry and tantrums quite a bit. But his latest thing is sniffing us(!) He tells me he just has to sniff my clothes. Keeps coming up to me or dh and sniffing us. I'm so overwhelmed by trying to not only figure him out but figure out what the heck kind of discipline to use. My xanax is always on the second shelf of my medicine cabinet. I know where to go(lol). Hey, I'll try a shot of that stuff; sounds good!!

We got thru it ok, but not great by my standards.

As for the drinks that sounds SUPER YUMMY and will try.

Molly, I wouldn't be to hard on the sniffing thing, because its really a autistic trait. Its one of the questions they ask on the Gilliam Autistic Scale Test. Also it can be a tic, to where really, they just can't stop themselves.

Thanks Lainie,
I have been really worried but I know I filled out the Gillium. I guess he hadn't ever done this when I filled out the scale. He seems to have something odd come up every so often. Like last fall, he was taking the paper out of our recycle basket and putting it in a pile by the fireplace. He did not want us to move it. That lasted a couple of months. Then nothing odd or new will came up for about a few months. He had a phase where he licked us and the neighbor girl once too! Now this. I think I'm going to start a journal of all this.
Sorry to go on and on I suppose I need to get it out.
Molly
Awww sweetie, you gotta let it out! On the licking thing, Chris did this when he was like 6-7 but he only does this occasionaly now at 11. Gawd I remember him licking the glass that covers the seafood in the seafood section in the store, and the poor guy got the flue lol.
Nic does it now alot.... I am still trying to figure out if its a Tic or an autistic thing..... Who knows, Nic has a dx of Tourettes with a second dx of ASD and Chris has been dx with ASD, and tics too threw his Pys, but is still going thru testing with the regional center..... I am on pins and needles...
