I am a dumb mommy.
Today we had a long hot one, and the boys were really good on our outings. I told them that we would go to Micky D's and get a soda and a snack. When we pull up I ask what do they want to drink, and what snack they would like. They all said Dr. Pepper. I order. We get our stuff and pull away. Wes took his drink and nuggets. A minute later I hear him crying. I ask "what's wrong." He said "I told you sierra mist." I told him "I'm sorry I thought you said Dr. Pepper." "No, I said Sierra Mist." I ask, "do you like the Dr. Pepper?" "Yes," he says, "but I always get Sierra Mist." So, I say, "can you drink the dr. pepper since you like it?" He is still crying softly, trying very hard not to have a complete meltdown, doesn't drink the dr. pepper, THAT HE LIKES, and just weeps quietly for the rest of the ride home.

AHHHHH! Duh! I know he always gets Sierra Mist, or at least I should right? Why would he get anything different!? But I guess I just didin't get it. I really missed this one. Crap.

Poor little guy. I know what you mean about missing the little things, though, especially when we theoretically know better about our kids' likes/dislikes. Sometimes it's hard to remember every little detail at all the appropriate moments. I think it's just brain overload sometimes. I'm so impressed that your guy held it together as well as he did. Kuddos to him!

poor guy! it's so hard to have to change, even if you do like something else. I'll bet you don't forget again! LOL!

Carey, you're supposed to be telepathic, didn't you know that? Or have the hearing of Harrah.

I have stuff like that happen to me rather frequently and I'm never sure whether I should be upset that I missed something so basic or frustrated that I'm supposed to be superhuman and never make mistakes.
