It's Official and an OT complaint

2 posts in one, lol.

First, got the official updated diagnostic center report for Mike. Autistic ("High Functioning" qualified by saying he is not academically delayed and has above average IQ) I still hold that autism is autism is autism whether it is PDD-NOS, HFA or AS. But at least I have it on paper to stick in the faces of the 'But at least he only has aspergers" people. (ie. extended family referring to other nephew who is autistic and thus THEY are dealing with the real thing and I should stop complaining) Funny thing is I will likely never tell them of the report. I don't get into it with them anymore.

Second, I now REALLY hate my sons OT, Kay.

My boss had a meeting with the directors of special ed and all the district OT's today. Boss has Cait on her client list this year. Kay got all in a tif saying that Cait doesn't need services, why is she on your list, I just found her not eligible 2 years ago, etc. In my defence the director of the elementary program spoke up and said Cait was having a rougher year since middle school. (know this person well and spoke to her about the internship) But Kay was still in a tif. Then at the end of the meeting my boss hears Kay say to the elementary director that she HAS to talk to her about Mike.

I have been insisting on an sensory diet according to the diagnostic center report (provided by the state dept of ed so they have to listen). That is about the only thing I can think of that she would be complaining about. I have a meeting next wednesday adn she better come in with some good ideas or I am going up the ladder on her.

What IS this womans problem with me. She is only 2 months behind on the dang sensory diet. GRRRR

GRRRR is right! geez! the only thing that makes Weston able to handle mainstreaming most of the time is his sensory diet. Why would she keep him from having what he needs to function in the least restrictive environment?!?!? esp when you have "proof" from state dept. (big rolling eyes!)

I'm glad you have the actual Dx now. Not that it's easier or anything, but maybe you'll be able to get more resources from the regional center and the SD to sit up and take notice.

(((HUGS))) hope the meeting w/ Kay goes well-- if not, string her up!

What a day you've had! That OT sounds like a real big dummy to me!

Well,

At least you have a definitive answer for you, if for no-one else. I know this particular question has been a source of considerable frustration to you for some time.

So now you know the answer. What you choose to do with that answer is up to you. You may choose to do nothing. But at least you have it.

I hate Kay too. It sounds like she has a problem with you all right. You must have somehow miffed her back in like, 2001 and she is the grudge-holding type.

I could try and scare up the Lads.

Now that you are back I was going to ask you to send the lads. They were quite helpful on their last visit. I will try to get them addicted to some real mexican food this trip and see if I can keep them. Last time they only wanted corned beef!

You are so right about the grudge! She is still holding one from 2-3 years ago, but I am reminded that I must leave now so I will fill in on the grudge later.

I am finding that my typing on my new b-day gift is much slower than I am used to!

Darn it, since all three of us are in cali (north, central and south) I thought maybe the lads could just make their way thru and have a vacation to boot. I'm having teacher problems.... sigh.

Will they take more bribes? hehehehe

Renee, I'm glad you finally got your definative answer about the dx and sorry about that twit of an OT. BTW, I may really need the LADS up my way.
