Hi, I'm Cristi (38); single mom adopting 4 siblings: Allysah (8 ADHD, AS, ODD, LD, RAD, borderline CP), Blaine (7 ADHD), Caden (6 ADHD, AS, LD, SID, RAD, and possibly more), and Derek (5 just a BRAT;) ). After 3.5 years with these guys, the adoption might be final before school starts... keep your fingers crossed.
I'm a psuedo-retired teacher/coach. i.e. I took a year off and moved in w/to help my grandmother (95), and now I can't find a job in small town, West TX. My hobbies include wiping dirty hands, snotty noses, and smelly butts. Oh wait, I'm confused... I like to read, go shopping by myself or w/friends (no kids), and I like traveling (even with my kids).
My bday is June 16, right between my 2 youngest boys... this year my dad gave me the gift of going shopping by myself!!!!

Hi! I'm Janet (37 - b-day 2/2/70), DH Paul (37), DS Jeremiah (6, wb 7 next month), & DD Joenna (3). We live in Las Vegas, NV but are originally from Chicago.
DS, Jeremiah, was dx'd w/ AS, ADHD, & OCD/Anxiety this year. He will be beginning 2nd grade this fall. He is very bright & gets As & Bs in all of his classes, but has many social difficulties. We have a 504 plan for him that we did the end of last year. He has many issues, one of the largest ones we've had to deal with is aggression. It is a tough one since it doesn't just affect our child. Some parents have been very understanding, but most are not. He just started seeing a psychologist last week & goes back tomorrow. We have also gotten him involved in some sports such as swimming, soccer, & martial arts. These activities seem to be helping him socially and with his motor skills.
DD, Joenna, is NT (so far) but she seems to be very spirited (persistent, intense, etc.) & a bit OCD. Aggression, disrespect, attitude are all becoming issues with her now. I am not sure if she is just having temper tantrums (as in late terrible 2s), if she is just copying her brother, if she is just looking for more attention, or if it could be something more. She did not used to be this way. It has been becoming more of an issue in the last 6 months or so. She is not like this at daycare though. She has also been spending more time w/DS now that we are all home for summer break. Any thoughts or ideas anyone?
As for me, what is my favorite thing to do away from PDD/AS? I don't know. I have been so busy with teaching & going to night classes for my masters degree, dealing with ailing father & father-in-law, taking my kids to classes, and trying to have some quality family time that there hasn't been much time for me. I suppose this summer I have been spending a lot of time trying to get my house in order (decluttering, organizing, & deep cleaning) room by room since I don't have time to keep up with all of that during the school year. But, I'm already behind schedule! I have also been trying to do some reading. Oh, that doesn't count, it's for dealing w/DS! Soon, I get to go back to school & decorate my classroom & get my lesson plans done & all! I also get to spend some time at the dentist getting crowns & veneers this summer! Woo Hoo!
Nice to meet you all!
Janet
