What is your dysgraphia group you've mentioned a couple times? I'd like to check it out if you don't mind. Kyle has dysgraphia too.

Samantha if I may ask a question, I'm not sure if I should start a new post, but I have noticed a few Dysgraphia kids have AS and a few AS kids also have Dysgraphia. Is there a strong link between the two or is it just because there both Neurological things?
Let me know if I should start a new post or if this is fine..... Thanks :)
Lanie,
Nothing was pulled by me,
visit my blog at www.onesickmother.com
I don't really know the answer to your question. I've never really looked into it. I suspect though its because they both neurological. Sometimes I wonder if they are the same thing but I suppose that's because I've really only known Kyle and haven't met anyone with only dysgraphia.
You can post the URL but leave off the www and the .com.
Thanks,
Samantha
Thanks guys, sorry! Samantha, can I email you the link?

Well they are linked and yet not, lol.
For kids with AS it is very common to have some side issues related to thier particular expression of AS.
It is extraordinarily common for kids with AS to be a bit clumsy and to be behind on thier motor skills. As such writing is very often an issue even if a child doesn't have full blown dysgraphia.
It is also common for kids with AS to have motor tics, auditory processing deficits, anxiety disorders, OCD or OCD type personality, ADHD symptoms and sometimes even mood disorders. Depends on the individual childs neurology. What came first, chicken or the egg. In this case I would say autism comes first and causes many of these other things just in the childs expression of their neurological difference.

Thank you Renee, I guess I have been seeing the writing thing (which was obvious by second grade, even though he never held a pencil right starting in kindergarten) and didn't think about the other things.....
I guess its a possibility he doesn't have Dysgraghia, he just has the motor skill problems that goes along with AS. I won't know till all of the testing is done, hopefully during christmas vacation.
I have to say tho, he is very good with big motor skills. He can throw a ball like you wouldn't believe! Tried to get him into baseball, the first year was great (kindergarten) the next year he hated it, and resists it to this day.
So sad, cuz we saw real potential with it. Maybe we can talk him into trying it again next year.
Lainie,
I think I found it. Is it the Yahoo group?
