Learning jokes and riddles

I was on the computer today and came across a really cute joke. "What do snowmen eat for breakfast?".....Frosted Flakes! Anyway, I was in the kitchen getting dinner on the table and told the boys this joke. Tyler thought it was funny. I don't think Nathan was even listening to me. He was staring at his gingerbread house that he made today. I tried to get his attention and repeated the joke. But he started talking about the gingerbread house, so I moved on...

Should I try to teach him these kinds of jokes? He doesn't seem interested. Or maybe it's because he doesn't "get it". We do lots of teasing around the house, and he's able to pick up on most of it. But not alot of jokes and riddles. Will he ever "get" these kinds of jokes? Or is this a wait and see kinda thing?

He did great on his gingerbread house too. Didn't like all that frosting touching his fingers, but he managed. I wanted to jump in and add more candy...but I was told "NO"...apparently it was perfect and just the way he wanted it!!! Tyler had a blast, of course!! He loves anything that has to do with arts and crafts!!! Very creative too! I'll have to do my own house next year, and show off my talent!! LOL

Michelle,
Great joke!I needed that laugh because I just got back from toy shopping with DH and it felt like I was on that show "supermarket sweep". Lets just say next year I will be doing it on my own!
I don't really have any advice because Jake is nowhere near getting jokes and to be quite honest I am the worst at getting jokes. Most times I've already zoned out after the first line so I usually just give a fake laugh and pretend I got it. Hello, that sounds a little familiar dosen't it? Maybe my DH isn't the only one with AS tendencies(LOL).
Great job on the gingerbread house you are much braver than I. I'm going to try a gingerbread train because it dosen't look as complicated and Jake is obsessed with trains so it should keep him interested.
