Liam at camp

So Liam has been at day camp (spec needs) for two days, and so far so good. Considering he started the experience with Chuck e cheese as a day trip I'm amazed his head hasn't started spinning and pea soup han't been rained upon me, lol. The only thing that we are struggling with (and more dh and I) is that it is a spec needs camp, thus the other kids there (age 6-21) are all hfa or mr. Btw: They are the sweetest, greatest bunch of kids; and Liam seems to have struck a chord in at least one of the older girls,

But once again here we are and Liam really is too hf for this group, but I know a reg day camp wold be a nighmare, both socially and behaviorally. The Counselors are awesome, and the director is a spec ed teacher in our home middle school. Liam seems happy enough, but I feel like once again he is only exposed to others who really can not be NT social rolemodels, kwim?

After this week we go to the beach with in-laws and cousins etc, and then he has two more weeks of camp scattered throughout July before school starts Aug 6th (yes I said Aug 6th people!!!!friggin' southern oddity). I am thrilled he is having fun, but it would be nice for at least one of his friends not to be developmentally delayed or 3 years old,....sigh
