Well we have had a very "colourful" few months with Liam. Basically after titrating down the risperdal to nothing, we have to concede the child is comorbid in the extreme, ASD/ADHD/Bipolar. Liam is manic once again. Anxiety is through the roof, aggression (esp at school) and lately my 7 year old has bcome fascainated with boobs and bras....sigh. (think closet and Victorias secret Ad). So I had a meeting with the pdoc, Liam's teacher and the director of his center was there too. I agreed we needed another med. So we started seroquel. If he's stiill symptomatic in January we will discuss adding a mood stabilizer....lamictal was mentioned, but it takes 5 weeks to get to a theraputic dose, and we needed to takes care of immediate aggression and meltdowns now. Yesterday was rough,(screaming outside the house with entire neighborhood looking on as Santa was coming down the court on a visit...yikes).
We are at a point with the school where we've tentatively agreed to leave him where he is, but they need to increase social situlations beyond his class of non-verbals and younger kids. We're thinking lunch buddies and play sessions with the ebd kids across the hall. Dh is dead set again't the latter, but in the grand scheme of things these ebd kids are the milder end and there are days I wonder would Liam be better of in there anyway....don't tell dh, lol.
Today at leat three possible meltdowns ended on a happy note, so fingers crossed. We still have the high EPA omega three's and I am getting my act together ad looking at getting play therapy started again.
Oh and I have my traffic court date tomorrow evening....I'm sh!ttin' myself!!!!!

Well, Girlie,
You've been through a lot recently. I'm glad the Seroquel is helping, but sorry for all you went through to datem you know?
Good luck with the court date tomorrow. Bring in the pictures of the bruised wrists.
And if you want a silver lining here's one for ya: At least now you know your boy is straight! You can look forward to grandchildren in the future :D

Dearest Dee,
Double triple yikes!! You have had one he!! of a time, girl. I feel for you on the drug thing, but it sounds like you are working with a very careful, knowledgable doc and that's the best you can do. But it must be so hard when Liam is struggling so. How long has he been completely off the risperadol?
Malcolm is very sensitive, I can tell, and any change is so hard. When we went onto Zoloft, the times where we were raising the doses were hard on him and he really struggled. At least almost the entire of those times, we were home schooling and could really control his environment!! And keep his anxiety levels pretty low, so then we could tell what was drug changes and what was life and environment!
Funny Paula ... Malcolm is also a boob man, a'course he still remembers being breast-fed with the greatest of nostalgia and even will still ask every once in awhile if I won't change my mind! AND he thought if I would just get pg again, the new baby and I would share ... NOT. Double NOT!
