Liam's party!!

Even though Liam's bday was March 30th we held off on the party 'til now due to Spring break etc. We had it at home (just safer), and invited mostly NT's in the neighborhood and of the three ASD's we invited one showed up, (moderate to severe Autie). We hired a clown (not my choice, Liam really wanted one), bust she was great. We had a mild hiccup when during face paintlg Liam asked to be made into The Joker from Batman (ie: white face, red lips) and she tried to get all artsie on him, he locked himself in the bathroom but I was able to get in and diffuse, then he went back and got exactly what he wnated; all was well after that. She used nicknames a lot which bothers Liam, kept insisting he was "Liam" lol, but othewise went so much better than expected.

Nice experience, kids had a ball, destroyed my house of course, lol. Everyone listened and got him Marvel hero or Pirate syuff for pressies (phew!!), no toys thrust back in faces. His ASD friend's Mom bought him one of his karate weapons for Tae Kwon Do clas, and Liam was thrilled with that.....of course the Autie friend speant the evening loading and reloading DVD's and hand flapping when the sound started....funny thing is after around 15 mins all the NT's just tuned him out/or accepted him....pretty cool hah!!! Actually Liam and the other autie were the easiest kids there; the NT's wreaked my house!!! Clown neglected to mention having a rabbit and feret in he show, but i survived never the less. Next year, we're going to an indoor moon bounce place though, just too stressful organizing all this in the house.
I know Cian is going to Jump zone in June!!!

good for you
Sadly our party we attened was a bit over the top=sensory OVERLOAD
I cried in the car on the way home. I hate when I start to go to my dark place when ds meltsdown and I see all the NT kiddies being "normal" and being able to sit down and eat&play games to win prizes (he got one anyhow).
For me to call his name 6-7 times and people look at me like "what's up with your kid?"

Sigh
Sorry to rain on your good day.
I am honestly happy your day went better than mine

Vrey COOL! Love that.

But i gotta ask. You kids let their Faces get painted! How'd you score that! What'd I do wrong. Ok Emily will do it(not for clowns, she is afraid of them) but the others, scream fest from the beginning. Last year at Camp I Can they had a clown doing painting and I was thrilled cause the kids let her do it on thier arms.

Sounds like a blast though. How fun!

How flippen adorable are they??? Dee I know your son and my son share a birthday on the same day... don't feel bad, things have been so mind boggling busy here at my house I haven't done anything yet for chris but I do plan too, in the next few weeks. He did have many family b-day partys tho, so it wasn't like he lucked out lol.

BTW having a party at my house... SHUDDER..... I would have to cook, clean, and organize... not what I do best!.... lol

Anyway he wants to have it at this paintball place (too expensive I told him) so it will be at adventureland, that has the lazer tag and video games they love so much....

Love the pics!!!!

Wow, Dee...what a fabulous party! I'm really impressed with the quality of the work the clown did! Face painting is not as easy as it seems.

I have to be honest, I'm more than a tad jealous. We've lived here for almost 4 years and I couldn't even imagine having enough friends to invite to a party!

Hooray all the way around!

OK I must confess most of the kids were children we knew from the neighborhood, maybe one actually plays with him consistently and even then I suspect that friend flirts with the spectrum a bit. The other kids had just moved into the area so they didn't know anyone either. And his autie classmate barely acknowledges anyone; but on the surface it looked like he had a lot of frinds, lol. ie: He thought he did, thus that was all that mattered.
