Great news!
It looks like when I took Chris to see the Special Ed dept the other day to show them his sensory issue's that the school doesn't recognize, it worked out real well for me.
The Dir called me today and said yes the other person discribed to her what happened and she suggested we send Chris to the Diagnostic Center for another assessment.

Lainie,

Thanks Paula!
Mike got a Diagnostic Center Eval last year. It is great that they have offered that. This would be a good case for it. They are the ones that dx'ed Mike as autistic.
A couple words of caution (they are great but SLOWWWW)
1) The referral does have to come from the school district and they are impartial but there is no guarantee they will take the case. It has to go through their intake department and be accepted.
2) There are 2 types of "assessments" they do, either they come out to the school with a "field study team" or they have you come to their center and do a more extensive eval. They determine which one they will do, you don't have a choice in the matter.
3) It takes typically 6+ months from referral until eval. Mike was referred at the beginning of May, we found out he was "accepted" in late September and they came out in Mid December. 7 1/2 months all told.
4) In Mike's case he had just had a triennial assessment so they didn't do any new assessments but did observations and reviewed all his current assessments. THey then wrote a pretty comprehensive report with recomendations.
Good luck with it. It is a great service just terribly SLLLLOOOWWWWWW
Thanks Renee, I appreciate your opinion.
