I imagine most of us have at least one kid who is fascinated by spinning/rotating objects.
I want to get my son (2.5 yrs) some gear type toy for Xmas. I have seen several different kinds, but most are on the internet and I can't really interact with them to test them out.
If you all could relate your opinions on the gear toys you've had experience with, that would be super...good and bad please!
Thanks so much!!!
Here are some of the ones I've seen...

I have seen a gear set on QVC.
Heya C.
The Fridgigears that you have bookmarked there is what is available on QVC.
We have the Gearation, and both of my boys have gotten a lot of enjoyment out of it.
Thanks for all your responses and I'm looking forward to hearing more from others!
As for the Gears, Gears, Gears...I have some experience with this toy and I do not like how the gears sorta jam or don't turn smoothly. Also, I think that may be more appropriate for a bigger kid.
I think I'm leaning toward the Fridgigears things...they look cool and maybe I could find a magnetic chalkboard or something so the fridge isn't crowded with gears, and three Leap Frog fridge toys (Word Whammer, Phonics+Numbers, and the Farm)!!!
As for your OT's advice, Debbie...I don't get it. Don't a lot of OTs recommended getting things like Sit and Spins and such, and other things that involve similar repetitive motion like trampolines? I mean, it says so in my Out of Sync Child book--somewhere, though I can't find the reference right now. I remember reading it. I thought giving them the stimulation they want can help their concentration later on other, more functional things?
Am I just crazy? But, to answer your question...YES! I have seen that and I very much want to get the spinning paint thing. We have a lot on our list right now, so that may wait until his birthday in April!!! Here's the link for anyone who is interested...
