Looking for info on "Pragmatic Disorder"
| Sun, 10-16-2005 - 6:23pm |
Hi, I'm new here. My 4 year old DS was just (tentatively) diagnosed with Pragmatic Disorder (by a pediatrician, who's referring him to a specialist). BUT the Dr had no info to give me, just the number of a centre that could give me the info, and they say they'll mail it to me, so who knows how long that'll take.
Meanwhile I hit the internet. I can find lots of info on SPD, but only one reference to having JUST the pragmatic side (and that just that it's possible, as is the opposite).
I bet the info is out there, I'm just awful at search engines.
I wondered if someone here could point me in the right direction.
TIA!

Try this group. This one and another website is started by a lady who has incredible knowledge on semantic-pragmatic disorder. I would highly recomend checking her out. She is extremely knowledgable and very nice.

Hi Sara,
I never heard of it. Sorry. I have heard of "specific language disorder". I don't know if this is the same thing.
But I can teach you how to fish:
Search on google/yahoo/about etc using the exact notation within the square brackets (excluding the brackets)
This will search for the words "pragmatic" & "language" & "disorder" together like that, but will exclude any references found which also have "semantic" -the hyphen is recognised as a "minus", so "semantic" references are dropped. You can also try without "language", etc.
