Lost and Confused....

I posted on here almost 2 years ago about suspecting that my DS may have Asperger's.  I haven't pursued any course of action because his behavioral therapist said there wasn't anything I could do that would help him in school except to continue with the behavioral therapy.

After doing some more reading in the last few days, I feel that he definitely has Asperger's.  I even read about they signs and symptoms in Adults and some articles and feel that my husband has it but has never been diagnosed.  I did this because the "meltdowns' my son has are very similar to my husbands.  When I brought up my suspicions initially to my husband, instead of having concern that our DS may have it, he instead told me that he thought he had it.  But after reading how it is presented in adults it make a LOT of sense.  It explains ALL the issues we have been having in our marriage for the last 10years.

DS teacher said that having the "label" as bad as it sounds, would actually help him and help his future teachers understand why DS does the things he does and allow them to be a little more lenient with him.... but this is contrary to what his behavioral therapist has told me.... though she is willing to give me a referral to a center that specializes in this.

I just have no idea what to do at this point.

My advice... Never be your child's doctor or make a diagnosis based on info from the Internet. I would take the advice and have your ds checked/tested then put together a plan of action. Good luck.
