LOL, 'One of those days'? Only if you call Aspiefest 2003 just 'one of those days'. LOL. Every autistic stim, tic, and trait that COULD manifest in my house DID yesterday. From Jade's constant interupting and questions, to Eva's putting not one but TWO holes in the wall with her head, to Ayla's attempt to give everyone in the house hot pink spikes with ICE Colors Hair's Glue. And we can't forget DH. Oh no, we can't forget about him! He slept all day when he was supposed to be wathcing the kids so I could catch up on some work from the foundation. Serves him right that he woke up with hot pink spikes! And when I DID wake him up he got all defensive and said "I AM watching the kids. I can hear them just fine." "Oh yeah? Then you WANTED the pink spikes in your hair?" Grrrrrrr "Go to Home Depot and get some drywall and a new filter for my paint gun." "Why?" "Because YOUR daughter pretended she was a moutain ram and put two holes in the wall in the dining room." So after inpsecting the holes he then turns to Eva and high-fives her!! Does he admonish her for puting holes in the wall? No. He admonishes her breaking one of the horns off of valkery helmet. But gee, HOW did she do that? BY USING IT TO PUT HOLES IN THE WALL. And of course Jade was interupting on EVERY sentance said wanting a full explanation of what was going on. "Jade, it's none of your business, but out." "But Mom, why did she...." "Why did he..." "What does that mean...." "GO WATCH TV OR SOMETHING"

So after I get DH and Eva off on their way to the hardware store I go in and wash the hot pink spikes out of the baby's hair. Thankfully, she didn't have any kind of reaction to the hair glue, but now her playpin is covered in hot pink splotches where is rubbed off from her. So, while I'm in the bathroom with Angel, Ayla is learning how to use the steamvac to clean the playpin. Then everything comes to a screaming halt....and I DO mean screaming! Ayla is trying to use the appoulstry attachment from the steamvac to clean Jade's jeans.....you guessed it...while she is wearing them. Jade fights back with a devistaing series of bites all up and down Ayla's arm, now the rucus REALLY starts. Grandma is turning in tight little circles and making strange noises (80yo in overload), Ayla and Jade are in a fist-da-cuffs, the baby is crying, my foster son has decided to hide under the kitchen sink, and the phone is ringing. Then, right as things reach their hieght, DH comes back and now suddenly there are two little girls being pinned to a wall with their feet dangling in mid air. The loud, booming, bass noise that's shaking the house? That's DH loosing his cool. Not my fault he was already upset because he forgot to wash the hot pink spikes out of his hair before going to Home Depot.

Well, it seems like things couldn't possibly get worse, but, me being of NT mind and body, am wrong. Dh was holding the girls up to the wall by their shirts. Ayla's rips right down the front (okay, so she could affort to loose a few pounds) and she starts screaming and goes into MAJOR teenage girl enhanced meltdown. DH can't see for the life of him why SHE is mad at HIM and just tries to hold on tighter. He won't listen to me or anyone else, and by now we are ALL screaming at him to let her go. So, for the first time in our relationship I proved to him why I have a higher degree black belt than him. Yup, I hit him, square up under the armpit. He dropped like a sack of rocks gasping for breath. Ayla ran into her room crying and screaming. And now Jade is yelling at ME because "We don't hit each other!! Bad Mommy!" But biting is okay?

So there's DH, laying on the floor turning three shades of red to match his hot pink spikes, Ayla has locked everyone out of her room and is on the ohone to her councilor, Jade is sitting in a corner with her nose to the wall, Eva is trying to convince Scotty that it's okay to come out from under the sink now, dgm has disapeared somewhere, and the phone is still ringing. The phone? We have an answering machine, why is someone calling us over and over and not leaving a message? I answer the phone. It's Sammi. Her aunt was in a car accedent and is in the hospital with two broken legs and a mild concusion. Cruz is going to be okay and Sammi is staying with the show's producer. But he needs me to fax him writen permission to cross state lines with her so he can bring her home on the plane since Cruz's custodial powers are non-transferable. Sigh.

We eventually got everything worked out and everyone calmed down. Sammi is coming home tonight and her aunt will be transfered to the hospital near us in four days. Ayla isn't going to press charges against DH and the councilor isn't going to to call CPS on us as long as DH goes back to counciling himself. Scotty now thinks the whole thing is funny, and Eva has had a crash course in drywall repair and 'resecting other people's property'. And Jade? She thinks we're all nuts and can't wait to go to Welton next year, just to get away from us. Oh, and dgm doesn't remember that anything happened at all. See, there really is an upside to being 80yo.

OMG Candes.

Well at least you made my day feel really good. I like the DGM pont of view, stim and it will all go away.

Hope you have a better day today with no pink spikes! Have had days like that. Well maybe not quite that bad, but they seem it sometimes.

Bless.

Oh, it gets better. While driving back from the airport after picking up Sammi I explained to her what has been happening over the last two days. She walks into the house, proceeds to put her bags in her room, then goes straight to the kitchen, where upon she goes through every single cabinit to inspect every single piece of cooking equipment. After she becomes satisfied that no one has killed any of her precious culinary tools she then looks at the place where I ended up ripping an entire sheet of drywall out in the dining room. She very quietly walks around the house taking note of all the little things that are out of place....there's water damage to one of the mirror backings, a corner of carpet has been pulled up in the living room, there's a gouge out of Ayla's bedframe, there's a black marker streak down the back hallway.....etc. She walks up to me and gives me a big hug and says "I'm sorry Mom, I won't you alone with them anymore." Then she instantly turns into 'Drill Sargent Sammi" and gets her baby sisters into PJs, teeth brushed, and hair combed in 10 minutes flat. I have no clue how she does that!! I takes me a good 30 minutes just to get Eva ready for bed. But she gets them all ready and lined up for kisses in no time.

She just brought me a cup of coffee and asked if there was anything else she could do for me before going to bed. OH HOW I MISSED HAVING MY NT BABY AROUND THE HOUSE! I love all my kids, but Sam is also one of my best friends. I'm so glad she's home!

PS. I heard Sammi telling her sisters "Geez guys, I can't leave you alone for a few weeks without you bringing down the house." LOL

OMG! You and I will have to get to know each other a little better. Your house sounds as crazy as mine does! I'm surprised you haven't checked yourself into the psychward yet - LOL! That's my next step...

HUGS and kudos for making it through that day.

LOL, actually, the reason I haven't checked myself into the funny farm yet is because most days in our house are relatively uneventful. The other day was a rare occurance for us. Usually things go off with barely a hitch. We adhere to a strict schedule for our daily routines so everyone knows what to expect.

But on Sunday everything started to spiral out of control when DH decided to take a nap with out letting me know, so the kids were basically unsupervised for over an hour. And the nap thing occurred because DH's personal schedule had been thrown off by a 9 day work week suddenly coming to a day off. He normally works 5 day work weeks with the occational Saturday morning thrown in. But with the recent spike in temperatues around here he has been installing airconditioning systems round the clock. There are a lot of seniors in our area and when one of them has a problem with their system when it's 100+ degrees outside they HAVE to have it fixed or replaced immediately. Heat Stroke isn't pretty and Dh is all too happy to help in any way he can, even if that means working until 2 am (which he did one night last week). But that first day off is murder on him. He suddenly doesn't know what to do with himself and he tends to shut down without notice. I mean, come on, we're talking about the same guy that instantly falls asleep if you try to argue with him. LOL
