There are so MANY things going on that I could write about -- that I can't even focus. These days my head is just spinning. The challenges for Malcolm are huge and overwhelming, the progress also huge. My boy is growing so fast, working so hard, facing such hurdles, falling down, getting up. Exhausting, all the time I feel on the verge of completely falling apart with exhaustion. I find I can barely think straight to even write about us at all, it's much easier to just respond to you all...
But here's a nugget of joy --- his GIRLFRIEND is back, we saw her yesterday for first time since we visited her in TX last summer and they were SO HAPPY to be together! We had her and her mom out to PA vacation house for an overnight and I am still plotzing with joy for him, brimming over with happiness at the sight of them holding hands, sitting together, discussing Pokemon gameboy game strategies intensely and negotiating/arguing/resolving while playing, swimming and chasing each other around the pool while laughing and giggling. Her mom and I took them to dinner at Italian restaurant and they were charming, so well behaved, discussing menu choices, letting the waiters do magic tricks for them. The roving guitarist came to the table and sang them a love song (!) and Malcolm leaned over and put his arm around her and said "He's singing about us..."
Big AAAWWWWWWWWW here. But WOW is happiness good for him. He was so present, attentive, able to roll with schedule changes and limit setting.
After she had to leave, things got a little dicier. He was sad, tired, testy again. We will quickly set up another activity/get together for them soon, so he can look forward to being with her again.
Love is a splendid thing.
