Some information about the child/ children who bring(s) you here: Joshua age 11. finally dx with Aperger's with a nuce helping of ADHD. We had started with ADHD at age 9 and started him on Concerta to find that it really wasn't helping the way it should. Josh was a child who makes you go hmm. Something is still not right. He is very immature. One tracked minded at times for his age. He focuses too much on the clock and what is going to be next. As his teacher said.. Wants to go someplace at a certain time but then when he gets to that place he starts worrying about getting to the next place. He also gets very focused on food and worries about missing his snack or what we are doing about dinner. He also likes to read the newspaper, listen to the radio esp the Mets right now..
Go Mets! I came here to well learn more about ASD. I had read a book called Quirky Kids that seemed to fit Josh just rigth and ASD was one of the Dx given in the book so as I started learning more the more I realized that this could nbe Josh. and it was. So now I am on our journey through ASD.

and for bonus points: Ethan age 7 in 2nd grade has his own little quirks but I have no doubt he is NT, any child who is refered to as the mayor any where he goes in not ASD at least not him.
Jeremy age 5 and in kindergarten is also I beleive NT though he is a bit a a ball buster. But he a trip

What is your favorite guilty pleasure: be it a sneaky chocolate bar at midnight, or watching "Desperate Housewives" We want to know! Guilty pleasure a Chai Tea latte from Starbucks.. eating a pint of HagenDas or Ben and Jerry's well any pint as long as it is premiunm chocolate, nuts or caremel toffee.. good. Once in a while a good wine..

Reason I'm Hear:
Jake(3.5yrs) diagnosed at 26months with PDD-NOS but Doc thinks he now shows more signs of AS. He is a very smart kid who is obsessed with the solar system and thomas the tank engine. He started preschool in a typical setting recently and is doing really well. He is a very loving and affectionate kid and the apple of my eye.

Ella(2.3yrs)undiagnosed but had major sensory issues as an infant and has been in E.I since she was 6 weeks old. She may have some minor motor planning issues. Not sure about that yet because she was diagnosed with torticollis and later erb's palsy. Still on the fence about if she is also on the spectrum. In my opinion no she just has sensory stuff going on.She is stubborn, very sensitive, funny, entertaining, independant and difficult!

Guilty pleasure:

Lisa here. I post every now and then but mostly glean info from all of you wonderful ladies. I'm in Arizona with my 3 year old son who was dxed with autism at 19 months of age. He has been in intensive therapy and is speaking well enough that he no longer qualifies for speech therapy. "They" are expecting his 5 year eval to come up with an AS dx rather than autism as stimming is no longer present and social skills are gradually getting better. Some sensory issues but mild. Mostly my little guy is very, very paranoid...scared of being naked, scared of his feet (go figure! he wants them to "go away"), only eats neutral colored foods, scared of approaching strangers, must have matching outfits...can't ever change the way the outfit is presented, etc. Doing well with routines at this point as Mommy has been doing my best to shake things up gradually for him. On the positive side, at 3 he is reading better than most 3rd graders, is beginning to spell, and is currently learning all the presidents with little trouble. While other children memorize the Bible verse for the week and forget it after they get their hand stamps, my son can tell you every single one when asked by the week to present them and, of course, screams when they get the hand stamp out so his little sister takes one for him!

Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives and big fat bear claw with some chocolate milk top my list of guilty pleasures...and I just dream of a full body massage....someday!

Goodness, Jane! We're living parallel lives with our son's!

Both are Noah's.
Both are Aspies.
Both are extremely high functioning.
Both are "deep thinkers, with great senses of humor, truly sensitive and sweet souls, and obsessed with gaming".

And I'm in Peoria, which is only about 2.5 hours from Chicago.

If you're ever interested in an e-mail penpal let me know. My son would adore having somebody "just like him" to correspond with.

Thanks for delurking!
