When I was at the Attwood conference I was wondering about myself, too, being somewhere on the spectrum....so I wouldn't doubt Dannica is.
Well i feel bad about it but I have sorta fallen into the lurker category lately

if/when we ever get to meet in person, Eric and Isaac will be able to entertain themselves in front of the TV watching Little Einsteins (I love that show btw my little professor is full of information and this morning he was humming Beethoven).
I think you just pulled a few out of lurkdom!

My name is Amy and my dh and I have two beautiful daughters. Natalie is NT and she is nine yrs old. Lily, my youngest, is four yrs old and she is the one that brings me to this group. She has PDD-NOS as well as a rare genetic syndrome--cranioectodermal dsyplasia. We have always called her our "mystery girl" because she keeps us guessing. We live in Southeast Texas. I guess my "guilty pleasure" would have to be using my DVR to record House, CSI, and Without a Trace and then eating a bowl of popcorn while I watch TV after my girls have gone to bed. Well, that about sums me up. I'm really glad to be a part of this group. I've learned a lot from all of you.

Hello.
My name is Liessa Krabbe and I live in Sweden
I have 3 children. 2 with Asperger. 1 girl age 11, 1 boy age 9. My oldest is dyslectic to some degree.
It is my boy who shows most signs of Asperger and I know what he is going through, after his 2 checkups I know that they got it from me. To some degree it is inherited and that makes it easier for me to be able to giva advice every now and again to the school who are trying its best to make his days as good as possible.
My passion is design and right now I´m making jewellery-envelopes in lace that I put out on auctions on a site here in Sweden. Just to have something to do. Other passions is to make cross-stitch patterns, write on my books and to read for my children before they go to sleep. Right now we are halfway into the complete version of Narnia. It is a wonderful book and my children really loves it
Well that is a little about me
Hi.
Debbie from SE Pennsylvania.
My only child Stephanie – age 8 (third grade) is homeschooled.
She was diagnosed this year with Asperger’s, ADHD and Anxiety issues. Last year her neurologist mentioned OCD. She did have epilepsy, but neurologist thinks her seizures are gone. We are weaning her off one medication and she isn’t having seizures. She fears a lot of things, but is getting way better on some of them like the playground and with swimming, but has weird fears like afraid of the baseboard heaters or ironing boards.
She is obsessed with colors. She likes piles of things. She sometimes plays with toys the way there are meant to be played with. She likes stuffing toys into things like dollhouses, kitchen sets etc. instead of playing house normally. If she sees things she likes, colored paper, crayons, colored pencils, she just grabs them and stuffs them in a bag she is carrying, her pockets etc. It is embarrassing. I keep explaining to her to only take one paper and not to steal stuff from other kids, church etc.
She likes to line all her toys up. She likes lots of stuff, but is overwhelmed and overstimulated very easily. She has trouble focusing on almost everything except TV or when she plays with something she really enjoys. She has trouble paying attention to directions and understanding what to do, especially in a large group. She will finish her schoolwork most times, but goes through it very fast, just guessing at most answers. She reads well and picked up reading and spelling really quick, but doesn’t really undertand what she read and cannot recall details of a story if she reads or if I read to her. She rarely paid attention at library story time. She would always look around at other people.
Sometimes she misses problems with schoolwork. She got occupational therapy earlier this year and that helped. The frustrating part was, and we know better now, is that insurance doesn’t cover Asperger’s diagnosis so we didn’t go for secondary insurance. In part, insurance said we were covered and now they say we aren’t, but that is another story.
She’ll be getting speech therapy as soon as we get the secondary insurance. She talked on time, but it was difficult to understand her. She uses sentences correctly, but sometimes only says half of what she needs to say for us to understand us. She mumbles and either talks loudly or too soft. She has trouble with the give and take of a conversation and seeing another’s point of view or feelings. But she is compassionate, caring and intelligent. She is very perceptive and is a rule follower.
She has some SID and tags bother her. She doesn’t eat cooked veggies and certain noises, smells etc. bother. The biggest issue we are battling now is pain in her vaginal area. Numerous tests were done and nothing can be found. The neurologist thinks it is sensory and wants to give her medicine for anxiety sometime. She is on Strattera for ADHD for now. It is helping some. Atleast she can sit still for schoolwork and is enthusiastic about it and she can write nicer. Back to the pain issue, also, when she is anxious and feels trapped, she feels the need to urinate and holds herself and says she has to pee now, but when we go to the bathroom, she doesn’t have to go.
The neurologist says she feels Stephanie is two years behind socially and with play, talking, motor skills. She likes kiddie shows like Dora, Dragon Tales, Barney, but also likes Sponge Bob for some reason. She really isn’t “into” anything particular except for colors and My Little Pony toys, but she likes all toys.
Sorry this is so long.
Guilty pleasures: The computer (I sit here way too much), reading (especially biographies), computer games, eating way too much chocolate (and wondering why I am so overweight, yeah right!), and TV: game show network, Price Is Right, Trading Spouses, Wife Swap, Bachelor, Dancing with the Stars and Netflix shows (movies, old TV shows, documentaries). I like to play more than work, but housework and homeschooling is so draining, I love night time TV and computer time by myself (of course while eating chocolate!)
