Well, I totally went against me own advice and forgot we had an IEP meeting for Peter today.

His teacher and I had already spoken about more

That is great news that they think he can handle it!! Whether the district likes it or not, you can request a meeting to make changes, so you know you are safe there. Of course it's better to be sweet about it as they COULD be nasty and drag their feet until the last possible day legally allowed. The plan really does sound great.

As for retail therapy, yup, been guilty of that. I try hard not to do that one though. No other vices here, not a big eater, drinker, never smoked or did other bad things, so I guess buying new shoes or towels or whatever isn't so bad :) BTW, Target IS my favorite and I have one that is waaay close to me, so I get my prescriptions there too.

Sending lots of good luck vibes for next yr.

I really suggest frequent team meetings to keep a close eye on how he's handling it. (even if they say he's doing great) That way you can catch the little things before it becomes full blown. I learned that the hard way this yr.

WHOOO HOOOOOOO!!!!

GO PETER! GO PETER! GO PETER!!!!!

I am so psyched that he has made this much progress this year! You like the school, it is supportive over all. How do you like the resource teacher (she is likely Siobhan's case carrier right?)

take a deep breath mom, your baby is growing up and moving out into the world. You likely know my thoughts on inclusion. That if a child can cope with it, enjoys it and makes progress then that is where they should be (regardless of academic level) with thier peers and it is up to use teachers to provide the supports to make it successful.

Have some chocolate....actually don't. Buy some new shoes. You will make it mom.

Hi Paula - ha looks like were in the same boat. We, too, are mainstreaming him next year. He will be in 3rd but we are doing it then because 4th is at another school & that would be a bad, bad time to mainstream him. Your son's plan looks similar to ours as well. Crossing our fingers for both our kids. :-)

The plan looks great! Congratulations to you and the team. I think Peter will be just fine...call an emergency meeting if things even look like they're going bad. This is very similar to what Weston's plan has been for the past 3 yrs (except w/o the para, as they don't 'do' that in this SD). It's been pretty good for us.

cheering!
