For what it is worth. No matter Josh's diagnsis, and who gave it. None of his doctors ever told us to change his diet. Our main concern has always been his not gaining weight/height esp on his meds. So we have no food restrictions. No one has said lay off gluten or dairy. Josh's diet isn't bad and he is not that much into the sweets. He tends to be more of a dairy/ veggie/ carb type kid anyway. Put big problem with him tends to be more on the proper amount of protein. He is not big into meat. But we do watch the types of foods we buy and the ingredients somewhat
But I remmeber where you live..lol Go up to Wild By Nature if you truly interested in making some changes as far as organic stuff anbd even trying to make stuff with less dairy and gluten. They are really good in that area. But I also agree with the rest of everybody. Get used to the therapies first and get them in place. Then slowly change the diet if you still feel that way. But I feel that diet is not as much of a factor as you might think in autism/asd In most of my readings thus far I see that most do not see diet as a cause of a rememdy. It doesn't hurt and you might think it makes a difference. But also look at everything else you are doing too. You are changing your apporoach to the child. You are getting services for therapy etc. Those also make a difference.
