Last night at dinner, Sylvia finished before everyone else so she was excused to go play in the living room. She immediately wanted DH to go in the living room with her, to draw with her on the etch-a-sketch. DH told her that he was still eating dinner, but he'd go in and play with her as soon as he was done. Sylvia did NOT like this and threw a screaming fit. DH and I finished dinner, and then he went to talk to Sylvia. He said, "Are you crying because you're very mad?" She stopped crying and said, "Yeah." He said, "Why are you very mad?" And she said, "Cuz I want to draw."
THIS IS THE VERY FIRST "WHY" QUESTION SYLVIA HAS EVER ANSWERED.
I almost burst into tears -- I couldn't believe it! Not only did she understand the concept, but she was able to respond and express the reason why she was crying!!! This seems so huge to me -- I'm just so happy for, and proud of, my little girl!!!
Just wanted to share...

That's awesome! Jake sometimes gets the emotion but can't express in words how or why he feels that way a common thing for our kids so that is a major leap for sylvia.
