and he goes around for days saying "Say "goodbye" to Malcolm the Kid, because soon you won't see him any more!" He's mourning his childhood at 13 lol... I told him he can still do kid things, but he pointed out how much more responsibility he has already and noted that he thought that would only get worse!

He did a week at sleepaway camp and had a terrific time, apparently he was the life of the party and participated in everything 110% (without complaining, shock). He's off at the beach today with his social skills day camp, a perfect birthday celebration for my wave-loving boy, excuse me, young man.

This has been a great year for him, doing super at school and he worked out some difficulties with his friends; he's better able to handle changes and upsets now. We've seen such big leaps this year, it makes all the hard work, worry and gray hairs worth it to see how far he has come.

Happy birthday to my baby!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BIG GUY!

As mom to 2 ASD teens it is a whole new world waiting for you Sara. Some of it great (yes many of those old stressors from the early years have waned) and some of it is worse (hormones, acne, high school, increasing freedom, begging for Drivers Ed) But it is definitely an adventure! Welcome along on the ride.

Happy birthday, Malcolm!

I was thinking about him yesterday. Not enough to actually *call*, but he was in my thoughts nonetheless.

13. I can't believe it....

Happy Birthday Malcolm! That's so exciting about all the progress. Gives the rest of us some hope! :)

(PS: Oh my goodness, all this time I thought rbear4 and specialmomx2 were the same person, but now that I've seen them both commenting one after another, wow. Ridiculous!)

I can see why you thought they were the same person. There both very smart and intelligent people. They certainly know there stuff :).

Happy Happy Birthday Malcolm!!! Sara he shares the same birthday as my nephew. I never realized that.

Wow he has come so far Sara, I just can't believe it. I'm so happy for him and am glad he's having a great day at the beach!
