Martha Stewart had Suzanne Wright (one of the founders of Autism Speaks) on her show today. There is info on martha stewart dot com regarding early warning signs of autism and she also has a number to call regarding getting a bill passed on getting more funding for autism......(following is from Martha's website)......
Autism Information
Autism is one of the nation's fastest growing serious developmental disorders. It affects 1 in 166 children in the United States today, up more than tenfold from just a decade ago. There are almost 1.5 million cases of autism in this country alone, with three children being diagnosed per hour. Yet despite these alarming statistics, autism remains severely under-funded. Suzanne Wright and her husband, Bob Wright, are working hard to change that.
To show your support of S.843, the autism bill that Suzzane Wright spoke of, contact your House Representative by calling the Capitol switchboard at 202-225-3121. Contact Chairman Joe Barton and tell him you support the releasing of bill S.843 for vote by the full house. Call him at 202-225-2002 or his Texas office at 817-543-1000.
Autism Warning Signs
A doctor should examine a child if he or she exhibits any of the following warning signs:
• No big smiles or joyful expressions by 6 months of age.
• No babbling by 12 months of age.
• No back-and-forth gestures, such as pointing or waving, by 12 months of age.
• No words spoken by 16 months of age.
• Any loss of speech or babbling at any age.

Christie,
Thanks for posting this. Although Martha Stewart gets on my nerves a bit, it is great to have big names take on your cause, and to have more parents aware of the importance of early detection and treatment.
I mean, look what Lance Armstrong did for Cancer research!
