ok, just received results for son's bloodwork. His cholesteral is 214. Yes 214. (it's a family trait). Dr. is concerned about thyroid TSH went from 6.65 one year ago to 10.21. The T4 went decreased from 8.4 to 6.3. T3 decreased from 188 to 144. Dr is concerned about hypo(underactive)thyroid. Son did put on 25 lbs in a matter of months last year. He also grew several inches. Records show at age 1 son's lead level was 2.7. Age 2 it rose to 10.0, a year later it dropped to 6.1 then lowered the next year. Any thoughts?
We are going to repeat the blood work in 3mos.

The cholesterol being high is actually a sign of hypothyroidism. All I can say is YIKES! What is the doctor intending to do??? He clearly needs Armor thyroid with TSH levels that high. Its ideal for the TSH to be closer to 2. And the lead is plain scary. I'd be starting low frequent dose DMSA asap to get that lead out. The lead levels in the blood drop as the lead settles in the bones.
