Last week dh and I decided to take a little trip, before school starts. I wasn't sure about the idea, considering we just moved into a new house, and Nathan is STILL adjusting. But we figured we better go, or we'll have to wait awhile.

We just went to Seattle, 4hr drive. Not too bad. Stayed 2 nights, did some shopping, and some fun stuff for the boys. Nathan was still very stimmy with lots of sensory overload!! We had to keep reminding him to keep his voice down, he wouldn't stop screaming at us! LOL One morning we went to breakfast, he leaned over, smelled my arm....and THEN BIT ME!!! I jumped, of course...which sent him crying frantically!!! And then, everytime we went into a store, he held on to me with a death grip!!! One hot, sweaty hand holding mine, and his other hand gripping my forearm!!! I literally had to talk him thru....letting me go....everytime I needed to use my arm!!!

He's still afraid of high ceilings, he thinks he's going to fall. You should see him, holding on to things to get from point A to point B. I think everyone at the mall thought something was seriously wrong with my child!!! LOL He panicked everytime we saw a dog or a bug. And wanted to ride in the carts at every store that provided carts. He's 6....so he can still get away with it, but it does look a bit odd considering his size. He barely fits and dh is the only one who can lift him!!!

He desperately wanted to go to Rainforest Cafe. It's a cool restaurant, with a jungle rainforest theme, huge fish tanks, robotic elephants and gorillas, rain falling......it's pretty great, and LOUD TOO. This time, he spent the whole time with his hands over his ears. Panicked, sitting very close to me, and jumping constantly. He still wanted to stay, and he even WANTS TO GO BACK THERE!!! Scared to death...but had a great time!!!

I'm exhausted. Glad to be home, as are the boys. We did manage to buy some things for the house, so that was great. Now to prepare for school to start!!!

Michelle,

Glad the trip went relatively well and you all got back safely.

Just curious: DId he tell you why he bit you? It doesn't sound like a usual "Nathanism" to me.

Little bit of mommy arm on the cob eh? you poor thing, i bet you did jump.

Glad that you made it through the trip with some good stuff and memories. Sounds a bit stressful but it was a trip to build on. Bet you are glad to be back. I know we were after our 2 day trip, lol.

Actually, Paula, Nathan has bitten me in the past....but it has been awhile. He's left marks on me before, but not this time. This isn't something he normally does though. I think it was just all the excitement and so much going on. He felt completely horrible after he did it. I did ask him why, but he said he didn't know.

Ever since we started the process of selling the old house, and moving into the new one....he's been a bit off. School is starting soon, so I hope he's able to get back into his school mode.

BTW, that morning on our way to breakfast, dh turned into a Jack in the Box (which was right next to Denny's, where we went to eat)....Nathan says, "Does Jack in the Box have breakfast?"
Tyler: YES!!
Nathan: NO THEY DON'T!
Tyler: YES THEY DO!
Nathan: NO!!
DH: BE QUIET!! It doesn't matter, we're not going there ANYWAY!!
Nathan: SEE....I WAS RIGHT!!!

I couldn't stop laughing. There were lots of moments like that. He even asked his dad earlier in the day why his face looked sooo angry. And why he was sooo cranky. He always says what's on his mind!!! LOL
