Monday Morning Crap

Why are Monday mornings just so crappy? In fact, why are mornings just so crappy?? We do the same routine every day and a piece of fuzz on the floor can make it fall apart. Nick went to bed at 8 last night, he didnt nap and was very tired, so I know he slept great, he woke up in a good mood. He didnt want to eat his breakfast, no biggie, they have cereal at daycare. He wanted to watch Nascar again, no biggie. He balked at leaving, no biggie, I got him up with some time to spare. Little did I know, he told me he had gone to the bathroom when he in fact didnt! How can you hold your pee that long??? So after some crafty negotiations, I finally get him strapped in and see him wiggling, he has to PEE. By now, we are running about 5 minutes late. I should have just let him pee behind the garage, but he wouldnt do that. Back in the house he goes to pee, on the way he has to say hi to Heidi, get his Nascars, give me attitude about something and then tell me he isnt leaving!!! Cripes, now we are 10 minutes late. Rather than risk chasing him out of the playyard, I give him his Leapster and he agrees to leave. Then he is happy boy. I guess I have to watch him like a prison guard to make sure he pees in the morning, I dont know how he doesnt explode! I just get so tired sometimes doing it all in the morning, dh goes in to work late on Tues and Thurs to help out. I get him up a full hour and 15 minutes before we have to leave. That "should" be enough time, right?? We do have everything ready the night before too. THanks for listening!

Hey! I have an idea for ya that MIGHT help, but only you would know for sure. Have you ever put up a picture schedule for him? Maybe one just for your morning routine would help. Example: put up pictures in this order- wake up, GO TO THE RESTROOM, get dressed, eat breakfast, gather personal items(nascars, leapster, etc), go to daycare. This kind of thing helps dakota ALOT. He really likes knowing what is in store for him during the day and he can SEE it and that comforts him. If you don't have a program to do it, maybe you can sit and draw a picture schedule for him, or use pictures from your own computer to make a schedule. Let him help out if he wants! Might be a fun activity for you to do together! Give it a go and see what happens! Good luck!

I really need to do something like that myself, but just haven't started. My boys are alot like your's Christine, (younger one more so) and I can close my eyes and see it happen the same way here.
BTW My Nic has never pee'd immediatly upon waking up. He never has to go then!!! I thought wow, he must have the bladder the size of king kongs lol.
