More school difficulties...

Well, tried talking to the teacher about yesterdays incident and got a whole lot of attitude again. Got alot of attitude the other day when I just called to deliver a message to Cait about who was picking her up. Talked to the VP today who is trying to be helpful, but never even knew half the problems were going on. DIscipline things she should have known about. Left polite messages for RSP, SLP, autism specialist, and district rep. requesting information about what was being done about the portions of the IEP. No return calls yet.
Getting quite frustrated. Tired of teaching these skills at night on top of homework that should be addressed during school time. I don't mind reinforcing them and teaching what I should, but hours after the fact (social skills with regards to teasing and school issues, how to use alpha smart programs, etc) is not nearly as productive as when it is going on. Plus her patience for that stuff is gone by the afternoon. I think I would just like them to implement the IEP.
Agh, thanks for letting me vent again. not sure what road to take. But it is nice to have a place to vent and get ideas.

I guess I had missed your previous thread about them giving you problems when all you do is call to let Cait know who is picking her up. I've been having a similar problems myself. One of the ladies in my suport group here, Kathey, is a single mom of a moderately autistic boy, Abrahamn. We've all been pitching in to help her since she moved to the area and this help includes picking Abrahamn up from school when his mom is working. We try to keep it to just myself or my partner, Scott, so as not to confuse the boy but sometimes we have to ask another member of the group to do it. Every time I call to get a message to abrahamn to tell him who to expect at the pick-up lane the school secratary gives me flack telling me that they are not an answering service and that we are encouraging Kathey to coddle her son. HMPH! Well, I hope we are at that, the boy needs some coddling, he's been through more than enough in his short little life (11 years).
What realy gets me though is that the office staff at this school totally ignores when someone points out that Abrahmn is autistic. They think that Kathey (and her group -they say it like we're a plague) are making things up and that the boy is just fine. They refuse to even listen to Abrahmn's teacher who has taken to walking the boy out to the pick-up lane herself because so many messages have not been forwarded to her by the staff.
Okay, I'm rambling. I guess that just touch a nerve on me. Sorry to use your post as a ranting platform, LOL.
