I watched it an I was shocked, I knew one of the moms. OK, well I have met her a couple times, I don't really *know* her.
The first boy, Jeremy, his mom, Chantal, is the one who wrote that book I am often mentioning here "Autism Spectrum Disorders". It is a really good first book to read. She is a local here.
Elijah, I am not positive but I think he is the boy from the book "Elijah's Cup". Which makes me wonder who the boy Jonathon was.
That was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw Chantal...I said to my DH, "Hey! Renee's met her. She speaks really highly of her."
I was amazed at how great Jeremy's classmates were with him. It was soooo cool, and it gave me hope for Claire's future. The singing of "Happy Birthday" was all too familiar for us. I bet I have 4 years of birthday cake pictures where Claire's hands are covering her ears. DH said that this year we're skipping the song and all saying, "Rock-N-Roll" which is Claire's preferred method of wishing somebody a Happy Birthday.
DH and I both agreed that Jonathon reminded us of what Claire might be like when she gets older. Not sure how that makes me feel.
I was truly impressed by Elijah's sense of humor. Talk about proof that you can't fit aspies into a box! (How many times have we heard or read that aspies don't understand "humor"???) I'd give anything if my aspie had a sense of humor like that. He cracked me up.
Well, ok, I will come clean on another connection. Mike's teacher went into teaching partly because of Jeremy. You see, her mom used to be Jeremy's aide. Not the one that was with him in the show but she was at the birthday party along with Mrs. M's sister.
