My angelically behaved Aspie...

We were all invited to a colleague's house for dinner: she's lovely, but childless, and has a pristine house, and I had my heart in my mouth about it...
Anyway, as I usually do, I discussed this thoroughly with my 9 year old Aspie before hand - how important it was to try the food, even if it looked or tasted odd to him, to sit up at the table, to use his cutlery, to respond politely to questions, etc, how we were going to get there, what might happen when we got there, etc...and he was absolutely angelic. He even, completely unprompted, complimented my colleague on her cooking, ate *all* his dinner and desert (even though there were some strange textures and food 'touching' other foods, usually a big no no) and even laughed with us instead of losing it when my colleague's husband teased him about something he said (again, usually a big no no). I was so proud of him!
Of course, what I *should* have done was prompted (ie BRIBED) his NT 4 year old brother and NT 2 year old sister as to how to behave, because they were complete monsters, refusing to eat, taking all their clothes off, chasing the cats and playing with ornaments...as we left, DH said 'why can't *all* our kids have Asperger's?' LOL :-)

Hooray for great behavior!!
Oh I would be proud too!
Kirsty,
As I was reading this I was thinking "What about the other two? Did she leave them at home?"
