Naptime help

I have a three year old daughter who is being evaluated for HFA right now. We've had serious issues and concerns since birth and one of those is regarding sleep. Currently, Izzy is getting 10-11 hours total a day - all at night. She also wakes up between once and multiple times a night. Naptimes are non-existent. She desperately needs some rest but in three years, naptimes have just led to a serious amount of crying, screaming, vomiting, etc. If I did get her to sleep, the rest of the day after she woke up was pretty regular melt downs until bedtime and the fight just didn't seem worth it anymore so I gave up trying to make nap time happen around her second birthday.

She still seems like she really needs a few extra hours of sleep and since it's so not gonna happen at night, I thought I'd try the naptime thing again. She's upstairs right now banging on the door, crying and screaming.

Any thoughts or experiences that will help me figure out how to make naptime a success for her (and not have her fall apart after she wakes up), or how to give it up and still get her some extra rest?

TIA!

I think we gave up on naptime early, too. Once they could get out of the crip it was over.

My DD didnt' sleep through the night until she was 3¼. A few things which helped her were mentioned: Finding the right temperture for her room, having plenty of pillows and stuffed animals so she could make a "nest", having a heavy blanket to ground her, keeping the room totally dark (blackout shades).

Thanks for the suggestions. As I've been dealing with this for about three years, I've read all there is to read, so of course, we've done and are doing all of the things mentioned - but the suggestions and the mere "been there, done that" was appreciated.

I'm not a drinking person, but these kinds of days occurring more and more again these days (she had therapy for nine months and now - nothing) make me want to. Instead, I make lots of cupcakes and eat my night away. lol

Thanks again!
