I come to this web site every day because it helps to read the messages and know that Im not alone with the problems I face. Now I really need some help and I hope that someone knows where to find the answers. My DS has Aspergers and we found out almost 3 years ago.We have been very lucky with our school district. The Special Ed director was a gem.We never had to fight for services because she always called us with new services that she thought would help our DS.She found him a social skills therapy group for after school and during the summer and the school paid for it. She found a therapy group called Mondo Drums for our ds that helped with his sensory problems and the school paid for it. She set up a quiet place for him to go when he was stressed and decorated with all his favorite dinosaurs. If there was anything we needed for him we just asked her and she got it.She moved at the end of last school year and I still havent met the new sp.ed.director(not that I havent tried). We have a brand new principle and counselor this year and they moved the Autism support network of teachers to a school in a different part of the district.Suddenly the school I loved has become a nightmare. My DS is not getting any of his services(like social skills class, speech therapy or an aide to help him transition)and the school doesnt want to listen when I tell them to take him out of the lunchroom because it is too loud for him. They took him out for about a week and I just found out they put him back in there without telling me.My son has started having panic attacks and the last time he had them he had a seizure.I am going to go to the school and spell out what I want him to have to help him through the day. Not having to worry about this before I am not sure what I can ask for and what my rights are. I live in Texas .If somebody could tell me where to look for information on what services we can get I would appreciate it.Thank you for this web site ,what a wonderful place to be.

Hi I am new to this board my ds was just dxed in-between aspergers and pdd-nos.

I would do just that right down everything they did last year.Set an appt with the principal and demand to know why his services have been changed.Where they all written down in his iep that this is what he is supposed to have?Sometime we have to get tough for our kids this is affecting his health. You need to be that hey this what needs to happen to help my kiddo.Your son needs you to do this as the school will not.
