Need help for a friend

I have a friend who lives in Tennessee, very far from me here in Alaska. He has a 6 year old that he believes has aspergers but he cannot afford to take his child to see a specialist for a diagnosis. Does anyone know of any programs in Tennessee that could help? Or if there are any services that are available to him to help him find help? Here in Alaska we have a medicaid waiver program that my daughter (she has autism) is on. It bases her eligibility on her own income and not mine. I don't know much about the laws in other states or if they are similar. Any suggestions???? THANK YOU

Hi,

I know nothing about Tennassee, I'm afraid, but I know we have at least one member in that state. Hopefully she will see this post and chime in.

Has your friend approached the school district about getting an evaluation via that route?

I'm in West TN in a suburb of Memphis. Is your friend near here? There is a place called the Autism Solution Center which offers free services (or services based on a sliding scale).

It is in Memphis.

I don't really know any other resources around here. I'm still waiting for Henry's testing and test results through his school.
