New aversion to homework reward . . .

Recently, Henry has stopped turning in his homework at school. I know he does it, because I sit with him and help him. I even made him start over the other day because he kept messing up on purpose, and his paper looked horrible with all the erasure marks.

At the end of the next day, I checked his folder for his conduct grade and his returned work. His homework was still in the "Return to School" pocket. I asked him about it, and he said he didn't turn it in. When I asked why not, he said it was because he didn't want a sticker. And his teacher always gives stickers for completed homework. He started to get pretty upset, so I dropped it.

The next morning, after he had done another homework assignment, I told him to turn in both papers and to just tell his teacher, "No, thank you. I don't want a sticker." He came home with both papers still in the "Return to School" pocket.

I hate it that he isn't getting credit for homework that he is completing. And I have no idea why he is suddenly so averse to stickers.

I sent a note to his teacher today telling her that Henry isn't turning in his homework because he doesn't want stickers, and I asked that she talk to him about it.

Hopefully, she can work something out with him.

Well, he did turn in his homework today. I asked him if Mrs. G gave him a sticker, and he said no. He also said that Mrs. G told him if he didn't turn in his homework that he would have to move his clip (and that's a bad thing). It worked today.

I guess we'll see if he keeps it up tomorrow.

Maybe instead of the sticker she could say "Good Job" with a big smile :). Its a shame he misses out on a reward, because he doesn't like it.
