Every day is a new adventure. I have an 8 year old son who was recently diagnosed with pdd. What exactly does that mean? Danny can be really sweet. but when he gets it in his head that he wants to do something...it's difficult to stop him...short of handcuffing him to his bed. of course I don't do that. But there have been days I have felt like doing it. I finally made an appointment with the mental health center for him next week. I need help. I need to know how to handle this kid. Because what I am doing is not working very well. Okay I'm rambling on now. Wanda.

Hi Wanda,
Welcome! With our kids, they tend to get "stuck" and its really hard to re-direct them. It was much harder for me to cope before, when I didn't understand, but now that I do, I can step back and look at it in a totally different way. If its not hurting my son, then I don't bother trying to change it. I just let it be, because now I understand. It's part of who he is, and altho it can bother me, I have learned to just accept it's him. It has helped me cope much better with my son's odd and different behavior's over the years.
