Hi. my name is ginny, dh is chris, and we are the proud parents of david & sara, who are 5 years olds, who we adopted when they were 18 months.
anyways, last year, david was diagnosed with PDD-Nos, and have been receiving services in the school. no medication. a few weeks ago, sara, who is usually very socialable and friendly became defiant and anti-social. we were unable to handle this, so we took her to the ped, who put her on Adrell (sp?). anyways, now david, who we thought was doing really well, is becoming defiant and anti-social also. do anyone know if this is common with twins. i spoke with sara's psy, who said that its normal for a child with pdd-nos to also have other issues. anyone else with experience with this? we are taking david to the ped on friday.
thankx
ginny

Ginny,
Welcome to the board. I can't speak inregards to the "twin" question...not familiar with this area! Sorry! But it isn't uncommon for children who are on the spectrum to be as you stated "anti social" and "defiant". There are lots of issues involved with our kids. Sensory overload, change in schedule or routine, frustration, stress, anxiety.....these can all lead to a change in their behavior.
My son is 7 (on Sunday!) and dx'd with HFA. In the last 2 years, his tendencies have seemed to surface quite a bit. As he has gotten older, the demands and the stress of school have affected him. He is also more aware of his surroundings and also picking up on the fact that he's a bit different than his classmates.
And to also add, there are alot of kids here who have more than one dx. So that's also a possibility for you to look into, if you feel concerned.
