My son, 7, was recently diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome. He's in first grade with many issues dealing mostly with social peers and learning issues. We're in the process of getting him into special education--Just thought I'd come in and say hi!
Thanks for the welcome! We never really noticed that Andrew had any problems except for the fact he was never really interested in other children, but he played fine with his sibling and just seemed shy.
It was when he started school we noticed the learning issues and then as we became more aware, I started realizing abeit late his other issues. Like repeating the same question until I'm ready to scream.
Welcome Kelly! I'm rather new here also. The ladies on this board have been such a huge help. It's comforting to know that we aren't alone.
My DD Gabrielle is almost 2 1/2 and was diagnosed with ASD at 22 months old. She has made tremendous progress with EI therapies and will be attending Special Pre-school next fall.
Hi there I am Renee and I am not new here, lol. I am one of da OLDDDDD ladies oh da board.
I have 4 kids. My oldest 2 (ages 12 and 10) are ASD, #3 (8) is gifted with some sensory issues, and #4 is 6 and has sensory integrtion disorder and it mimics lots of other stuff.
I'm Amy...and I'm another OLD face around this board. I have three children. My oldest is a 9 y/o boy Dx'd with Asperger's. My middle child is a 7 y/o "neurotypical" girl. My youngest is a 6 y/o girl Dx'd with Autism. My husband is an unDx'd Aspie. But at least he admits it. LOL
Looking forward to getting to you know you.
Hey...where's Candes? No doubt she's been doing some serious low sugar cookie baking! Pass the plate please, Candes dear!
