Hi everyone!
I have a 5 year old son who was diagnosed "on the spectrum" at 3 years old. Although he hasn't been more specifically diagnosed, we consider him to be a textbook Asperger's kid. For the last year, we have been giving him DHA supplements and we think they have been helpful for him. We also have a 2 1/2 year old daughter who is a typical child.
I just found out yesterday that we are expecting our third child -- a total surprise! I started taking prenatals today. I saw at the store that they are now marketing DHA supplements for pregnant/nursing women. Do any of you think that these would be beneficial for me? Would you take them given the current opinion of the *wonders* of DHA? I'm not interested in making my new child "smarter," I just want to do everything I can to help his/her brain build those connections that didn't happen in my oldest.
I'm leaning toward taking them but wondered what the perspective of other ASD/Asperger's parents would be. Thanks for any suggestions or insights that you may have!
