HI! I'm Katie and my son Ryan is 7 years old and has austim. He is AWESOME we have our problems and days. He is in school that goes all year. He gets days off and a vacation. He seems to like it . He isn't potty trained they stopped that at school. He just wasn't getting it and he would just sit there and nothing he was on a scheldue every 30 minutes same at home. He would also hold it all day long and then be in pain or have an accident. Since they stop he has been calm at school and at home. Sometimes we catch him doing the potty dance and bring him and he will go on the toliet so far he has gone about 12 times not everyday .

LOVE Katie XOXOX

Hi,
I'm new here too. I think the IPad is a great idea! I heard they can be very effective and really help kids.

Welcome Katie,

We don't have an iPad, but I'm sure my DS (6) would love to have one.

Hi, Katie -- welcome!

I don't have any experience with the iPad, but I know others have experienced some good luck with some apps. I don't know if they've been around long enough to find out if they are detrimental to verbal skills, but definitely an interesting idea. I wish I had some help for you!

Are you okay with them not potty training him at school? I've run into that myself when my son was younger and we had to really push to remind them that if he had to be at school, they had to handle the issues that arose while he was there, including potty training. It wasn't pretty, but they did go back to helping.

Good luck getting the iPad! Do they know when they think they will find out if he gets it?

Hi Katie, welcome to the board! I don't have any feedback on the iPad other than generalities that I've heard about how well they work with autistic kids. I look forward to getting to know you and Ryan better :)
