My kids have decided what they want for Christmas. They have this neat new thing they do, well actually it is the one thing they have been able to do together for a while. Pretend they are in a band. They put on some song and sing to it. They are convinced they are great. LOL

Well, now they all want instruments for Christmas. I am trying to talk DH into it. Heck this is something they can do together as a hobby and perhaps learn something at the same time. Heck I would throw in music lessons for the lot as well instead of other sports.

DH is afraid it will go the way of the majority of things in our house. Broken and unused, lol. Could be but I have found beginner instruments for about the same that we spend on christmas stuff anyway. Mike still has his beginners electric guitar from last year. He wants and upgrade so his may be more. He has taken good care of it.

If it doesn't get broken it may be something worth while over a new video game or plastic animal that is for sure.

Oh yeah, and Dave is drums. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Renee,

I am first in line for the album!! How great, what fun. I absolutely think you should go for it, get them instruments, let them become the Cowsills (remember them?) What a great project for your kids, even if eventually it goes the way of other old toys. Kids are meant to play and learn through fun, and yours most certainly are doing that, yes?

Our kids (Malcolm and friends) have often made up a band, and I also love it when they dance hiphop together in front of our big mirror in the living room. They are pretty darned good, too.

Hey, Destiny's Child started young...

well, I would be highly disappointed and let down if Dave was on anything BUT drums. I can just see him LOL!

Is your garage detached? To bad if it is not! (It may be time to move).

Tell DH to have that stick surgically removed and just do it already!

Just call me Shirley!

I already have a minivan. Maybe I should just paint it funky colors. As long as we aren't the Jacksons I will be ok.

OH dear lord hopefully they won't be destiny's child. OH well, maybe that isnt my style of music but neither is Hillary Duff which is Cait's favorite and she insists on having it her way. Mike has cool taste in music though. One of his current favorites is Switchfoot.

Ever hear of They Might Be Giants. We call it nerd rock. He loves them too. He is your alternative guy with a hint of punk rocker, lol.

I think we should just nickname Dave "Animal" and have it over with. When they told me Dave was the drummer my thought was "naturally. What else would he be"

No the garage is not detached and living in S. Cali our neighbors are close, poor things. We live in an older neighborhood so it is further than many other neighborhoods but still close enough that they will have front row seats. And ALL my neighbors are elderly! Fortunately they love my kids. ROFL Maybe not after they start thier "band".

Setting up the stick removal appointment today.

actually, that might just work! LOL! can't wait to hear the concert and see their videos!

but I do think it could become difficult as well-- what if Cait and Mike decide they're in different music genre bands? or is the chaotic music a good thing? Weston would have a very difficult time because he has a VERY specific picture of how things should go in his head and can't deal w/ the others doing something different! What if Dave is too loud and someone has an issue w/ that?

I think that musical instruments are good for kids w/ asd because they have the same qualities all the time, music is very constant and the symbols once mastered don't change. Weston is taking piano lessons from me, and once he's very comfortable w/ it will be taking lessons from our church organist.

Animal! ROFL! That's perfect. Cait can be Janice, Mike; Zoot (It was Zoot, wasn't it?)
and Emily is... erm.. Rolf? (the dog)

Might be better having elderly neighbours. You can post a rehersal schedule, so they know when to switch off their hearing aids and everyone will be happy.
