Newbie w/newly diagnosed 13yo & question

I have believed for the past 5 or 6 years that my son has Aspergers, but he hadn't been formally diagnosed until a month ago.

Gosh, we are still working on that one ourselves. I wish I had an answer. I have seen some good systems and my dd's teacher found this one online but it was like $200 and you have to get teacher buy in on anything you want to try and you and I both know how well using something different goes over with middle school teachers. (my dd is 8th grade as well).
I am thinking of going at this from a technology standpoint for next year. Office for Students has this program "one note" that is like an electronic binder. You can put scanned document in it, make notes, etc. It is perfect. No papers getting lost. HOWEVER, there is that teacher buy in thing again. I have to get them to scan their documents and provide it online or in electronic version. We have a scanner at home too so I could teach Cait how to do it here as well. That is part of the plan. She is an electronic whiz and having everything available in one spot and searchable will really help.
Heck you can even get most texts in electronic versions these days AND (for his dyslexia) you can use a text to speech program with them. The one plus of Windows Vista is its accessiblity options for people with disabilities. It has text to speech built right in to the operating system.
At anyrate, with how good my aspie types are with computers and the availability and quality of programs out there available at this time I think it is definitely the accommodation that is going to make school more accessable to Cait as she goes into high school.
Her BIGGEST area of need is executive dysfunction so this has been a big thing for us for some time. To the point that she has had an aide for a number of years for this particular issue. I would love to find any way for her to be able to ditch the aide and be more independent.
