My son Tristan is almost 7 and we are going through the testing stages still. His Dr. thinks that he has either PDDNOS or Aspergers but is leaning more towards PDDNOS. This is not the first time that this has been brought up to us but the mom that I am I wanted to give him a chance to "snap out of it". Well that is just not going to happen, although we have lots of good days, we are starting to adjust to the idea that he needs help, and we need help to learn how to teach him. It has been refreshing to read about your children, it makes me realize that he is not so abnormal and that there are other children out there like him. That gives us a ray of sunshine in our lives to know that we are not so alone. I look forward to getting to know all of you and learning more about Autism and ways to help our little ones live with this disorder.

Hugs Nancy
Loving mom of 3 beautiful children!

Nancy,

Glad to have you here! My son, Nathan is almost 7 too!...on Sunday. He was dx'd HFA when he was 5. We were going thru all the testing when he was 4 and in preschool. I came here to the board just a couple of months before we got the actual dx.

Hope to hear more about Tristan and your family. This is a nice place to come to for support, to share stories, and to ask any question you may have!

Nancy,

A diagnosis is not the end of the world..it's the beginning of a strange and wonderous journey. There are some hard days, no doubt, but when you see the improvement in Tristan after he has started his therapies, it's so worth every ounce of frustration. My son Matt is only 4.5 and was only diagnosed last July, so every day is a new journey, as it will be once you know what you are dealing with. Best of luck with Tristan and getting a formal diagnosis. This is the best place to be when you have a child with ASD, these women are the best with advice, a sympathetic ear, information, you name it...it's here. I'm so happy I found this place. I'm sure you will be too some days...LOL

Hi Nancy:

Glad you found the board. I just found it myself and am new also and I am going to post my intro shortly. I am Debbie and my DD is 7 1/2 and many doctors have said she has Asperger's and possibly ADD. She also has epilepsy and takes two medicines three times a day to control seizures and it is working nicely, but probably drugs her up a bit.

We are waiting to see a child pyschiatrist of an official diagnosis and the pediatrician wants us to talk to the school district about getting her therapy. She is homeschooled and doing pretty good with the one on one. She does get out with other homeschoolers and friends.

See you around and I agree, it is great to have these boards and to know we aren't alone. Look forward to hearing more about you.

Debbie

Hi Nancy and welcome! My name is Christie and my son Vaughn is 7.5 and was just diagnosed with AS (along with anxiety and ADD) in December. We have just started the school MFE and hopefully will have some services for him soon. Look forward to learning more about you and your family.
