Hi all!
Nick got his first report card and I am pretty darn proud! They don't give grades in kindy, they give plus sign for mastered skill, check mark for partial mastery, minus sign for experiencing difficulty at this time and minus sign for skill is developing at this time. Academics wise, he has mastered everything with the exception of recognizes/completes patterns (what would come next in a series). His teacher said most kindies have trouble with this one. He counts to 100, I know he can count to almost 200, but she stopped there :).
Physical Development - Minus for Jump/Hop, checkmarks for skip/gallop (they said he can gallop, but not skip) and his fine motor skills: holding a crayon, pencil, scissors, writing. She also said that the OT person was out to eval him and has noticed some problems with balance and problems catching a ball not relating to vision, which is perfect.
Social/personal development - He falls apart here...Minuses for respects authority, self control, follows rules, checks for plays well with others, takes turns/shares and shows responsibility
Work habits - Pluses for listens/follows directions, completes assignments in reasonable time, willing to try, participates in class, checks for follows directions, cleans up after self, works carefully/neatly, minuses for works independently w/o disturbing others, stays on task (surprise there!).
Overall I was pleased and not surprised where he was lacking. I have been telling them all along!
