My name is Amy and I'm a SAHM to two beautiful little girls. Natalie is 9 yrs old and Lily is 4 yrs old. Lily is the one that brings me to this group. She was dx'd about a yr ago with PDD-NOS. She also has a rare genetic syndrome called cranioectodermal dysplasia. We're from the southeast Texas area. We will be celebrating Thanksgiving with my side of the family this year. I'm glad to be part of this group.

Who you are: Crystal

Where you are: Alabama

Where you are originally from (optional): New Mexico

Who brings you here -briefly: Name (optional) gender and age: My 10 year old son, CJ. He has AS.

...and how you will be celebrating Thanksgiving this year: Thanskgiving is going to be tough this year. We will be at home and my parents are coming in from NM so the kids and I won't be alone. DH is in Iraq, so all holidays this year are going to be a struggle. More for me than for the boys. CJ is dealing with this deployment BEAUTIFULLY. He is very matter of fact about it. Daddy is doing his job and our job is to keep things running at home. Matthew (5, NT), on the other hand is having a terrible time with the deployment. But that is handled day by day. DH was gone in 2003-2004, so CJ has a memory of it, Matthew does not.

But we have much to be thankful for this year. DH is safe, as safe as he can be. And we talk to him often.

Having my parents here will take my mind off a lot of things. And my kids will have a better holiday that way.

Diva, currently in Md, originally from New england. DD will be 4 in February, currently has a PDD-NOS diagnosis with a pretty significant speech/language delay but it seems like everyday she is saying something NEW!
We are going to europe (spain) for thanksgiving to spend with DH - who is there for work...so i'll cook a small version of a traditional thanksgiving dinner for us and maybe one or two guests...other Americans,

Maryann! (waving hysterically!)

I was looking for you in San Diego this weekend just in case. Molly and I were both there on Friday and rode home together. We also crashed the meet and greet ;-).

Anywhoo - Chantal Sicile-Kira is going to be at the AS parents group meeting tomorrow night. I am considering going if I can convince DH to do the karate thing for me. You think you might go?

Renee from Southern California (really really close to legoland when you went there Evelyn!)

Originally from Massachusetts then went to college in Ohio.

Who brings me here. I am going to do an aspie thing and be literal. I bring my self here. lol. But I come here because of my kids. Cait (12- AS, epilepsy) and Mike (10, ASD), Emily (NT but has to deal with her sibs) and Dave (6 - ADHD and SID, dx'ed PDD-NOS but I waver on if it is accurate. Today I am thinking yes but he hovers on the very edge of the spectrum)

Turkey day! Well this year we aren't having the big family gathering like we usually do due to other things but we will be going to my SIL's with all the family and my mom for a big gathering. DH is from an italian family that HAS to have gatherings. My mom and my SIL's folks always comes too making it a 30+ person gathering.

Also this thanksgiving week my friend's baby is having heart surgery. It is the baby with downs syndrome. So I will be trying to help out her and her family. The baby will be in the hospital for a full week. I get to go next wednesday and have 2 units syphoned out of me for the ordeal (the perks of being O-neg blood type). I am glad I can but I think I will be a bit loopy for the rest of the day.

I'm Amy in Central Illinois. I've lived in the Midwest my entire life, including some time in Missouri and Indiana.

Our son Noah is 9 and Dx'd AS, our daughter Claire is 6 and her diagnosis is "autism"- I consider her to be in the middle of the spectrum. She's far from high functioning, but far from Kanner's too. We have another child, Emma, who is 7. She's NT...and an angel.

We'll be heading back to our hometown for Thanksgiving. It's about three hours away. I'm the youngest of 8 kids, so it's kind of like a Walton's reunion - only not even remotely that functional. (But it's better than the alternative...spending the holiday with DH's family!)

Melissa here, from NJ, born and raised. My son, Andrew (8 - AS) brought me here about one year ago. He has a brother Jacob (6 - NT, although I wonder sometimes), and two sisters, Abbey (2) and Sarah (8 months).

I have absolutely no clue what I'm doing for Thanksgiving. The whole thing overwhelms me. My inlaws always invite us, since the rest of thier family is in Missouri. If we don't go, they'll be alone (guilt). I have three siblings with families, so my folks always have someone to spend the day with. It's too stressful for me to think about cooking and having everyone at my house, but the kids do so much better at home with their own stuff. What I *really* want to do is ignore the holiday completely, have a movie marathon and order pizza.
