NYC board of ed question

I have been trying to get a meeting with the board of ed to discuss Everett's case for placement at a state approved school. I found out a little of over one week ago that Everett's teachers from this past school year wrote a letter to the BOE stating that he needs to be placed in a state approved private school. I have not seen a copy of this letter, which I need to have for my records. Plus back in May I requested that his IEP be re-evaluated based on him getting a new psychological evaluation. The psychologist from the school called a private social worker that I am working with explaining that she has gotten an appointment for Friday July 14th (of course I never received any appointment letter) which was the same day as his NYU evaluation which had taken me two months to get so I could not attend and now neither one of us can get a hold of the BOE. Several messages have been left for various people there. We are in Region 9. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I do have the application for The Summit School and the private social worker and I are going to fill it out this Thursday. I will keep you update on that area.

Hi! Yes, we are also in need of speaking to someone at District 9, and Evelyn Burgos is working a short week Tues - Thurs and then basically not answering her phone or returning phone calls. She's the one, the only one who counts, that is. She's like that anyways, but I often have tried calling morning, noon and night until I actually nail her answering the phone. BUT summer is rough with them. Still and all, they are who you need to reach.

The Summit School is great, Malcolm has a number of friends there. You can certainly reschedule the BOE eval, if you can ever get them on the phone.

If I reach them first, should I tell Evelyn to give you a call? HA.

Do you mean Region 9 or District 9?

We are in Region 9, District 2. We go to the Region 9 office at 333 7th Avenue in Manhattan.

Hi, I meant Distict 9 and that is the office. We all have to go there. And Evelyn Burgos is the woman who does all. She is Region 9 Director Dr. John Capozuco's secretary.

Oh Gawd, I am jest fried.

Honestly, I THOUGHT Region, and then I see that both times I typed District.

Nope, I mean Region, Region, Region 9. We are in District 3, Region 9.

Yes, I have not been getting too much sleep lately, very, very tired...

Do you have the phone number. That is one name that I don't have and when I searched the DOE website it, of course, doesn't help at all.

I hear you with being tired. We are in the same boat. I wish everyone would quit thinking that I am superwoman, because I am not.

No one at the board of ed returns phone calls. It must be some policy there to not return phone calls, HA!
