Its a miracle! ~giddy laugh~ We need to get out of the house and go shopping for my neice's b-day present. I told Kyle to go get dressed. I went upstairs to look for him to tell him something. I couldn't find him at first. He was in my bathroom taking a shower!!! I never thought I'd see the day. Wow. Ok, now I'm starting to get misty. He really is growing up.

Samantha, I'm betting that your son is a lot like mine....so yes,
Oh man, I'm so jealous! If I could just get ANY of my DDs to react like that! It takes HOURS to get my brood wrapped up to the point just where they can run down to the library to return books.
WOOOHOOOOO
That is great! We had a similar situation with Cait and I do think it is them growing up. A few weeks ago before church I had told ehr to get ready. I turned around to see where she had snuck off too and she was in the shower! Ok, it doesn't happen every time but it is getting more and more common that she will shower independently. Just got to get her to wash her hair everytime, lol. It is so nice to see them growing up and starting to take care of themselves.
Mike is the opposite of Cait. Once he is in a routine he sticks to the routine. We prepared him that at 10 he would shower every night. Took a few weeks but now unless you prepare him for a change he has to shower every night at that time, except on fridays- he has that day off as part of the routine, lol. But there is no way he will shower in the morning or at a different time unless he is specfically prepared.
I got one rigid scheduled one and one flakey no executive function one, lol. THey make quite the pair.
Hurray, Hurray, Hurray!!!
I understand this so much, but on a lower little kid level. Eric was only recently totally potty trained. Now he wants "privacy" and if he has problems (which he does with no. 2) he will ask for help. But the fact that he is even trying to do things on his own is so exciting!
Baths and showers are another frontier. I have found that Eric is sort of intersted in the "huggies clean team" mitts, and I've bought them and miracle of miracles, he does try to clean himself. How are these different from a washcloth? They are not except for the power of marketing, so the interst seems to be also kind of a NT kid reaction, so I am hopeful.
This is so great and wonderful for you! It gives me hope too.
