I am SOOOOOO proud of my boy!!!!!!!

Today when I picked him up I heard a story. It seems some girls were picking on Mike's friend at lunch. For those that remember, this is the boy from last year with the panic attacks and the incesant lying. He has no friends either, a stutter and used to be our neighbor so he and Mike stick together pretty well at lunch.

Anyway, these girls were threatening to throw a sandwich in JP's face, took his pudding, etc. Mike stood up for his buddy (ok so mostly he stood up for the rules but his buddy too) and told them to stop. They can't have a food fight, etc.

Well one girl squeezes a whole container of chocolate milk all over Mike. And he did......almost nothing. He threw a little lettuce but when the teacher asked him to stop he did. He didn't freak out. He didn't hit her, he didn't scream. He just stopped and talked calmly and let the teacher (who saw and came over) handle it. He got a "hand" which is his teachers big classroom reward for getting caught being kind. It is a big deal in her class.

Why a big deal for us? Because prior to this that would have been a sure fire way for Mike to instantly go into meltdown or freak out mode and end up in huge trouble. Instead he handled himself very well adn controlled!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so PROUD of my BOY!!!!! And I am proud of him for sticking up for his friend too!!!!

What a guy.

This is a huge deal! Great way to start the week. The chocolate milk thing, there aren't many kids, NT or AS, that would handle that without a big outburst.

You're very proud, and I hope Mike is very proud of himself, too. kwim? He should be.

Man, I love where he is at right now. I want it to stay (crossing fingers). He just did another thing this morning. He had his shirt on backwards and when I pointed it out he didn't growl, get upset or anything. He made a joke "ha, doesn't everyone wear it that way?"

This should last, oh bout an hour. He has a doctors appointment for his post-op this am and he already is not happy about that. That aught to be a mood killer.

You are right to be proud of him. I am DANG proud of him and I never met him.

However I have 'known' Mike for a long time, and O. M. G.
