I am actually having a giggle on this one. The poor woman doesn't know what she is in for.
I went to Mike's school today and to say his mainstream teacher is the forever optomist would be an understatement. This is a woman who HAD Cait for 5th grade and she knows via word of mouth that Mike is more challenging.
Take with this the fact that historically Mike does really well the first week or so and he is quite a sweet charmer. He also is one of those bright kids who memorizes things very well and seems to be pretty good at math. He is king of the honeymoon period and they haven't started the hard work yet.
Ok, So I am picking up work from Mike and she says after having him 1 1/2 days that "I hope that we can have an IEP soon and I think he should be in this class full time". Well at least she is positive. ROFLMBO! I think the entire team there at the meeting will yell a resounding NO! BAD IDEA! STRESS CHILD OUT! MELTDOWNS! WE REMEMBER LAST TIME!
I am all for trying to include him more but it has to be done slowly. To switch him full time to a mainstream 5th grade class would be suicide. In fact, I would be willing to bet that within a few months we realize that the amount of time he is in there gets stressful for him.
Well, at least she is positive. Poor nieve soul!

well here's hoping the honeymoon never ends++++++++
Kyle is like that at the begining of the yr too. We just have to enjoy it while it lasts.
Will Mike be out of school for a long time?
