Ok, I was looking for video's of kids with AS who looked like mine. I ended up finding this on Youtube.

As an aside, DH has to go there this week to do an analysis on a kid from his district. Needless to say he is not a happy camper about going there. This place makes me sick.

If you can't make it through the whole thing go to the very last bit. A half minute or so. I think I am going to puke. They show a student "say something and flap" then the therapist checks a behavior chart and you can see that she is going to give the child a shock. OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG

Paula,

Recently a story about this place aired on tv, maybe it was ABC but it might have been CNN because I seem to remember Anderson Cooper asking to feel the shock himself and saying it hurt like hell.

Anyway, that show caused a stir in our local South Florida autism community. There were the beginnings of a grassroots effort to try and do something about it too, but no one could really figure out what to do, living so far away. Also, it caused a bit of divisiveness among some parents here of children with severe self-abuse problems who felt many of us with HF/AS kids do not understand the choices they have to make. I don't think anyone here at the time understood some HF/AS kids were at the school. After awhile people quit talking about it.

But to get to the point, if you want, I will put you in touch with the woman who was trying to spearhead the group to do something about this place. She has several ASD kids of varying levels and founded/runs the place where DS gets social skills. She is herself a speech therapist. She is a pretty successful political advocate for autism with the local legislature here in Florida.

Email me privately and I'll put the two of you in touch. She would be thrilled to have a contact in the MA area that she could work with bc she felt very strongly about this too.

You are not the only one this angry. There has been folks for years trying to get this place shut down. aspies for freedom has a big thing on it, etc. That is why those video's I found on you tube was created.

DH told me that JRC recently won a big law case again NYS in order to stay open. I guess that is where that report came in. Like as in just won this past fall.

As long as you can get anything with enough money to pay a lawyer then this school will stay open. It is beyond the evil of this school and shutting it down, it is a need to change our entire legal system. (Otherwise someone explain OJ Simpson to me) The people from this school know how to use our legal system to their benefit.

What needs to be done is find some extremist wacko to bomb the place or burn it down but then the kids would be hurt and they likely have more than enough insurance money to cover rebuilding.
